NuPrime design and build some of the most innovative and best sounding amplifiers in the world. Many NuPrime components are also remarkably affordable given the often astonishing sound and power they produce; this is directly attributable to their unique approach of combining Class A and D designs in designs that are entirely their own.
NuPrime have been a key partner with Totally Wired for over a decade and have rapidly expanded their range of components , going from the original introductory model – the IDA-16 integrated amplifier, to a comprehensive eco-system of specialist audio components. We are here to help you navigate the NuPrime range and find just the right right component or system for you.
Change is inevitable and the means of listening to music is rapidly evolving. The body of recorded music grows by the day with countless genres. As does the variety of formats. Your own tastes, existing system and even the rooms you listen to in, will add to this infinite variability. So there is every reason to seek out a bespoke solution.
That’s why the NuPrime range covers analogue and digital, deals with multiple sources and formats and often allows customisation. NuPrime components will run well with almost any loudspeaker and respond well to system upgrades such as cabling.
In 2026 you’ll find NuPrime delivering some truely remarkable components. Let’s look at the newest first.

The new IDA-9 Digital Integrated amplifier is NuPrime’s first component to feature their new GaN (Gallium Nitride) switched mode power supply. Perhaps most remarkably, this advanced power supply system delivers performance equivalent to traditional transformer-based power supplies while occupying only one-fourth the physical space and weighing merely 20% of conventional designs. Add to this a 30% reduction in already low heat output and power consumption with a doubling of rated output and you can suddenly hear what the future sounds like.
Due for release this February (2026) the upgraded all-analogue IA-9xG will also feature a version of this supply. We really liked the original version and can’t wait to hear the latest!
Likewise the flagship Evolution Series STA stereo power amplifier is also in line for the GaN treatment – great at 200 watts a side, even better at 400!
NuPrime 9X series
Both the IDA-9 and IA-9xG featured above fit within this range of great value, high performance components. Clustered between NZ$2000-3000, all the 9x series options allow you to build exceptional systems with integrated, separate pre and power amplifiers, analogue, digital and source components. NuPrime are actively improving and expanding the 9x series so there’s something for almost everyone here.
NuPrime AMG series
The NuPrime AMG series is, first and foremost, about uncompromised sound quality. This is why they are separate specialised components and incorporate NuPrime’s very best technologies. The name AMG is a play on one of the key specifications of the amplifiers – the 1 Meg (million) Ohm input impedance and it might just be a coincidence that the same 3 letters have a performance reputation in the automative sphere.
The first components in this line – the PRA preamplifier and HPA headphone amp are little pieces of affordable audio luxury, resolutely analogue, minimalist and focused. All set new standards for NuPrime with a fluid yet detailed sound and the quietest background yet.
The new AMG STA-SE power amplifier is a complete re-working of the original with major improvements have been made to both the power supply and the actual music producing circuitry which, from my own listening, have made a huge positive difference to the audible performance of what I already regarded as NuPrime’s best work.
NUPRIME X are a tightly focused range of power amplifiers that I have a particular fondness for. The MCX 2 550 watt stereo power amplifier was the first of it’s generation and has now been replaced by even more advanced models the Fusion X range detailed here.
These amplifiers are perfect for anyone who loves live sound and, as you might imagine with the multiple channel options are great for killer surround sound systems.
